JLSS Youth Participate in Kirchentag Festival in Germany Youth Program in Germany May 2009

Through a very kind invitation from EMS, five of our students (Elias Kaady, Charbel Saliba, Abdul Halim Kronbe, Michel Sawaya, and Elias Nabhan) visited Germany from 19 until 29 May 2009. They were accompanied by Mr. Hisham Maalouf, our car mechanics trainers.
They participated in a youth exchange program prepared by Kerstin Sommer. Young people from JLSS, along with a similar group from Theodor Schneller School - Amman, attended programs and activities with German youth. They visited Manheim, Bremen, Heidelberg, and Frankfurt visiting museums, churches, old castles, and other places of interest. They attended the Kirchentag May 2009Kirchentag church festival and visited some woods where they saw how trees are cut using highly specialized tree-cutting tractors. They met many people in German including old Schneller friends and alumni. This youth exchange visit was a wonderful occasion for JLSS youth to meet TSS and German youth. It was a fantastic experience that allowed youth to get rid of stereotypes and cultural prejudices and to learn about and respect other cultures.
We express our most sincere gratitude to EMS, Kerstin Sommer, the German youth participants, and all the wonderful people who made our students' visit to Germany a very memorable time and an excellent learning experience.
